From our holler to your table! SouthDown Farm is a small, family-owned farm in the hills of southeast Kentucky. We grow an amazing amount of vegetables in a small area using intensive market gardening methods. We make value added products with the vegetables by baking and processing what we grow...think carrot cake scones, cucumber bread, Jalapeño Cheddar scones, Grape Jelly and Jalapeno Salsa. Our niche product is producing Kentucky Maple Syrup from maple trees on our steep hillside property.

We invite you to look around, learn about our operation and hopefully find yourself something from our holler for your kitchen table in our Farm Store.

Maple Syrup Production

In the winter of 2010, we started experimenting with harvesting sap from our maple trees to see if we could make maple syrup in Kentucky. After we tasted our first half-cup of maple syrup, we knew that we could make maple syrup in Kentucky and we had something special.

Our Story

SouthDown Farm is a small, family-owned business in Ermine, Kentucky, owned and operated by Seth and Sheryl Long.  Family is important to us. As a family, we enjoy seeking out the latent assets of our farm and wisely using our individual strengths with a goal of showing-casing Appalachia and its many strengths and possibilities.
